Activity Juggler

Activity Juggler is an application which helps you to juggle with your different social network’s activities,all through a single interface and at a single location. This app addresses the very basic reason for which users connects to SNS so often , that is to stay updated of their friends/followers, or to send one’s own updates.
Tic Tac Toe - An Opensocial Gadget

We build this gadget and hosted on Myspace. This is a typical noughts and crosses, Xs and Os, game built in java script and involved the user and friends of the social network.

Flash Based Video Chat

This application is an audio and video chat solution based on Flash media server. We did this expeiment to learn and determine the ability of Flash API for video chat. As a part of this excercise we also tried to find the best resolution, window sizes needed for optimum picture quality together with other parameters related to progressive vs streaming download. This chat client enables video streaming, recording at run time, with full efficiency and performance.

Hot Corner

Impetus sponsored the 2nd Hadoop India User Group Meet held on July 31st, 2010 at the Noida office. Rajeeva Gupta initiated the event by introducing the Absolute Zero forum.

This event held by Absolute Zero Forum focused on Hadoop technology. It channelized efforts to develop an active Hadoop community that can network and share information. The event provided a platform for open discussion among Hadoop enthusiasts.

We received 120 registrations from different companies in NCR and Chandigarh. Developers and architects with experience level from 2-10 Years attended the event.

People from across the industry showcased their expertise and presented sessions on,

- HIHO- Hadoop-MySQL loader by Sonal Goyal, Meghsoft

- JAQL by Himanshu Gupta, IBM

- Visual HIVE by Sajal Rastogi, Intellicus

Flavor of the Season

Impetus recently participated in the O'Reilly Open Source Convention, OSCON 2010, held in Portland, USA from July 19-23, 2010. A  key area of discussion was the integration of Open Source into business strategy, and its growing relevance to Android, iPhone, and other mobile platforms.
Impetus—represented at the conference by Vineet Tyagi, Anand Raman, and Anand Venugopal—showcased its thought leadership on building application servers.  Impetus provided attendees with insights on crafting WebROaR from the ground up, using C and Ruby.

Vineet Tyagi addressed the delegates, including developers, engineers, designers, trainers, programmers, systems administrators, IT managers, and entrepreneurs. His session on ‘Let’s build a Ruby application server’ drew significant interest at the conference. Impetus made its presence felt at the event and connected with several existing and potential customers

Geek of the Month

Vipul Gupta has won the competition on ‘What is your most favorite software testing tips’, put together by Daily Testing Tip and the Software Testing Club. His Tip was “Think testing as a challenge; it is not simply verification and validation of what is written and communicated in the starting”. Vipul Gupta is test architect with more than 12 years of experience in software platform testing for various domains including finance, telecom, healthcare and entertainment. As a resident of testing expert, he has worked on innovating test engineering methodologies and designing solutions to meet the upcoming trends and demands in software testing.
